So when I was a younger kid I used to find it easy enough to keep up with homework and I used to be top in my maths class.

I guess since I had other things happening and people to distract me/ de-motivate me.

Even writing this now, I've just gotten de motivated.

Basicly I want to watch more films and start to read alot of books at the same time as being in dispair.

My suggestion would be to find one subject that really grabs you- that you just can't put down.

Something that lights a kind of fire in you.
If you can find that thing, you won't need much motivation beyond that.
I have found a couple things that I am drawn to even in my darkest periods because they simply fascinate me... though it isn't always terribly obvious for everyone what those things are.

A fairly simple way to explore with little commitment and low-level of initial effort might be to go to wikipedia and start clicking the "random article" button.

It sounds maybe TOO simple, but it will give you a large array of subjects and interests to hit upon. Eventually something may light you up and entice you to investigate further.
And that's what learning is- investigation.
You can build on that initial curiosity and go on to read, watch films, talk to people, all kinds of things.

But you have to figure out what will create that special spark, yeah?

I feel like learning for the sake of learning is always great, learning something you LOVE is a great experience, though, and a perpetual reward.

Thank you so much, when I first read this I was thankful for your post and it of course makes sense but I wasn't sure what interested me or just couldn't find the motivation and energy. I mean it's mainly with reading books and school work I have ended up finding it so hard to concentrate sometimes. It's like everything reminds me of how my life could be better and I want to be involved in social situations around while I can.

I'm not sure what has changed, maybe I had alot of time of work and things at college have been easier, people I've met have inspired me, and sort of coincedence meant that I've started to do these things more and it makes me feel pretty good I guess with alot of things I want to do, I'm always thinking its so late to be good at that one thing yet alot balance out other things. I feel like your words may have been somewhat helpful though so I appreciate it muchly!

My problem is that I want to know *everything*.

I have so many books on so many topics I want to learn about but I haven't the concentration span to read them. I would love to do another academic course but they are way too expensive and I can't decide which topic is most important to me.
