Try taking things one at a time. I like to make lists of things I need to do, even of the littlest things. It feels really good to check things off! You could try rewarding yourself for every little or big thing you do get finished.

Good luck!
Thanks for this!

Hi happywoman.

Cherrykix' suggestion of making lists is great. I also recommend doing that. Make a list with say 1-3 MAIN actions that you want to do. Also make those actions SMALL, and CONCRETE.

Having 1-3 main, small, and concrete actions makes the task of studying seem less overwhelming and provides focus and clarity.

The thing about focusing on small tasks is that there's less resistance in starting your work. And starting work is one of the biggest hurdles when it comes to studying or anything really. Once you start working on your small task, you'll be in motion and will have a higher chance of doing even more work. One of the reasons you're procrastinating may be because your work seems very burdening and overwhelming so aiming small will help to get over that issue.

Good luck
Thanks for this!

I can totally relate to your anxiety. I was a teen mom, so I never got the chance to go to college. Now that I finally have the opportunity almost 20 years later, I am having such huge amounts of stress over it. I have another child who is almost 3 now and a husband to take care of, along with my endless list of mental health issues. I also started taking topamax 6 months ago which has killed my ability to focus. I'm thinking once I get through this semester I might take a break to get myself together, but then I'm afraid it will end up being a permanent break.

Oh man, I didn't mean to bring down your thread. Don't pay attention to me, I get frustrated with life sometimes. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Thanks nuxuxu for your empathy.i have a teenager and a husband I care for poorly not to mention the self care.i am thinking about communicating with someone at the uni who understand mi issues but better get back to those small tasks.easily distracted. I want to push through even if I fail but I'm trying not too because of the course costs.
