I have bipolar disorder, and my grades are always up and down each year. But this year I'm a senior. I have no motivation to do my work, and if I do poorly on a test, it's like I don't even care anymore. Like I've just given up on myself. But at the same time; I'm in the heart of a manic episode. I'm not failing anything, but I could do WAY better. Has anyone experienced this before? I want it to stop before I start college in the fall but knowing my luck it probably won't.

Welcome to Psych Central, Mandy w. Sorry to hear you are feeling changes in your performance in school. For many people that can be a sign of a deeper problem. Seeing a therapist or psychiatrist can be a path to recovery.

There are lots of compassionate people here that can make the load lighter by sharing and caring. You are part of the community now. Feel free to read and respond to other's posts as well. when you have 5 posts or answers to other's posts you can also get into chat.

Getting sleep may be the single one thing that keeps me in balance. If you are not sleeping or having bad side affects, tell your doctor or psychiatrist when you can see them and tell them what is happening so they can make adjustments.

Many people find compassionate, caring people here at PC. Some people find the forums give them the compassion and empathy they seek. http://forums.psychcentral.com

Please feel free to private message me or any of the Community Liaisons by left clicking on the name in blue to the left of their post) for questions or just to share.
