Hi all, so i am doing a research project for school. I'm looking for ideas. The topic had to relate to volunteer work and I'm already volunteering at a support center with kids who are just removed from their families and going into foster care. I don't know how to do a research project because I am not allowed to talk with the kids about their "cases" and the kids don't usually stay long so it is not like I can get to know them. The idea for the topic of the effects of trauma on the body is because being removed from your home and placed into care is traumatic in and of itself, not to mention what was going on at home for a child to be removed.
If anyone has any ideas, or personal stories/experience to share - it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time and be well.

I used to do foster care and my first placement was a baby who was 6mths and in newborn clothing and obviously malnourished, when you held him he was stiff in your arms as he was not used to being held, he would cry to be put back down, the back of his head was severely flattened from constantly laying on his back. The poor thing was terrified and was hyper-vigilant. My first purchase was a baby sling and I wore him everywhere and had to let him realise that touch was comforting it didn't take long for him to thrive.

The staff should be able to assist you with information that would serve as good resources I would think.
