My paretns pressured me to get the top rank. I lived up to their expectation for last 3 years. This semester, i messed up bcs i joined a competition. My grade started to drop. And tomorrow, my dad will come to my school to get my mark report. What should i do if i got the second rank? My parents didnt like excuses, so i cant say this is all bcs of the competition i joined.

Oh, I hope you didn't get in too much trouble!

I know your parents will matter more to you than a stranger on the internet, but I am still very impressed by your accomplishments.

Sorry that I cannot help more :/

I hope you were able to deal with your parents' disappointment if you got second rank. It is your life and you wanted to join the competition and become a more complete person. When you are out of school your school marks will not matter anymore but the other parts of interacting with other people will.

You joined a competition because it was your free will, right? So that's a choice you made, and just like life, sometimes the effects of our choices are unpredictable. I hope your parents weren't too mad about the expectations, but think about it this way. I wish to not spur any negative feelings, but it's better to pursue activities outside of the classroom than to be #1 without any experience at all. Also, I see that you're from Indonesia, so I'm not sure how the school system works over there, but you may have the chance to increase your grades/rank with time. You're still young and human, you are bound to make mistakes. That's normal, so if you got something out of the competition and learned from the mistakes that you think you made, that'll be beneficial to you Hope I helped!
