Even with the grants and federal aid I can't afford the most basic university. I've already used up 70% of my savings at this point, and its disappearing before my eyes. I don't have the mental capacity to apply for full-time work, nor the means of transportation to get there. I already work part-time on-campus, but its not enough by any means.

Overall I see no hope. I've tried applying to scholarships, but now they all are for the Spring. I can't afford the rest of my semester. I'm just at a loss because I still need $8,000 to pay for this semester alone. I've been apply to scholarships, but I'm not confident I'll get them, and am really struggling to find enough, especially since most of them also won't be publishing results until I'm already bankrupt with missed payments.

I'm stressed to the point that it is killing me. Literally. I'm trying to see a point in this. I'm trying to understand. I can't take much more, and if I'm stripped of my ability to go to university I'll lose my therapy access, since I can't afford it on my own, and that's the only thing that is keeping me slightly sane.

I don't know who to go to. I don't know what to do. I don't have any ideas or knowledge on how to deal with this in general, and it just seems impossible...any suggestions would be appreciated? Just so you know I also don't have a credit score since I use debit and have been up to this point frugal with my money and saved, so I'm literally f**ked from every direction in every way...

If I'm kicked out I wish I was exaggerating, but I will kill myself. Its already hard to keep myself from doing so despite the pointlessness of all this work I've done to try and pay for it.

I am ignorant of how US education is financed. But a few things stand out/don't make sense to me. You say you still have savings. But it is normal to go into debt.

You say you have a part time job and get scholarships, but you still spend more than you can afford? How do the numbers add up? Do you keep accurate accounting and did you show it to someone knowledgeable.

You talk about being really stressed out and about suicide. The former is serious enough, as being stressed out will hamper your academic performance, which means you are in college for longer, which means more debt. But the second issue is absolutely essential. You are in the privileged position of getting higher education in a developed country, but you actually want to commit suicide because of the problems associated with it?
I don't want to deny your problems or your feelings, but that isn't right.

I am sorry financing university is so tough. It was not as bad when I went in the late '70s. You said you work on campus; are you doing a work study job? They don't pay lots but you can study while you work so it is a good use of your time.

Have you considered taking some classes at a community college rather than university? That might help you save money.

What is your major? I am a nurse and the hospital I worked at would help with education costs in exchange for a two year commitment to work there after graduation.

Could you go part time and work more hours? It might take longer to get through college, but many people have to go that route. Full-time university is hugely expensive. It might better to go that route and not get further into debt in the long-run. Transfer to a college where you could live at home while you go to school? That would save the room & board.

Is there any way to take a semester off? It might be too late this semester, but maybe next semester. That way you can work more and increase your savings and have time to research and apply for more scholarships. My husband had to do this twice during his studies due to financial issues. He still graduated, just somewhat later than had planned.
