My therapist is no longer available to me. Government cutbacks are self-limiting my choices to none at all. I am sliding badly down a greased tube with no where to turn. It is not fair to have worked so hard and long in recovery efforts to see it go up in smoke before your very eyes. I am very, very lost right now. I am economically deprived as well, without transportation, alone, physically disabled with several serious health problems. There is not much to offer in a small rural town. I need a good dose of old-fashion HOPE.

I'm sorry your therapist has retired. You have a lot to deal with.
I hope there will be some hope here on PC and here, too:

Hope is HERE. I am finding that SO many ppl on here at PC are so kind, loving, open minded, and understanding with VAST experiences and extremely helpful knowledge. The website is LOADED with tons of information and ppl to talk to. I look forward to it daily and am gaining new perspective and hope from it myself and thank the universe that I stumbled upon it when I did.

Peace to you.
Thanks for this!

Create your own project; start saving $5 a week for an FTP (Future Therapy Project). Treat it like you would "school"/college? They cost about the same these days. Set out your ideal course, what you'd like to gain in therapy and pretend that were possible, lay it all out like you were designing your ideal school system. Get a notebook and start planning/writing about it and working on what preliminary learning you'll need?

For example, if you are afraid to talk to other people so think you'd "waste time" when you do get a therapist because you'd be afraid, start "practicing" with store clerks, librarians, other people like that. I always work on my people skills at the grocery store, ask the checkout clerk how many more hours she has to work, talk about the weather and other "common" issues like that, practice looking at her name tag and using her name without it being obvious, LOL.

A free, online book I love that might give you ideas and hope is Barbara Sher's book, "Wishcraft"

My therapist didn't retire. He just plain quit working without telling his clients. None of us are eligible for another therapist at this time. His records are sealed. Where do we go from here?

This is the second time that records have been sealed on me. I do not know what the situation is but they were closed by our county system so hopes of getting to them are virtually nil. However, I am managing rather nicely with all the support I receive here at PC. However, I am aware of the fact that there are times where a therapist would be nice.
