Cjmccray, why do 2 grown adults trash the place ? How do they ? I would say if they are untidy, they have to tidy and leave a room as its found. You are not an unpaid skivvy ! I used to have a beautiful home, when my husband was alive, and took great pride in it. 'sigh'
Even when the kids were young and had their toys all out playing, one game/toy was put away before the next came out, rather than a whole toy box tipped out.
I don't think that's harsh, just how I taught the kids to play.
You're not dealing with kids but adults, they should each tidy after themselves. Do they think the elves come and tidy ?
Have you told them how you feel ?
Thanks for this!

I also do all of the cooking. And yes, I have told them. I am just so frustrated. It's also bad when my fibro is acting up and I just want to lay down. Eventually, though, I will start school and I am going to stop picking up and cleaning up after them. I am trying to prepare them for it. I just hope I don't lose my mind over a dirty house.

maybe if it gets really out of your control
(the messy house)
you could try designating areas that are places you like to hang out the most, and tell them that nobody can leave a mess in those places.
then maybe you can expand the areas, and then maybe they will respect your wishes to enjoy a clean space..
well, we can hope.

you could always just do your part and designate chores for them... and if they don't do it, take a certain amount away from their allowance (if they get any)
or charge them somehow and use their money to pay for a housekeeper?

I have found the site supportive even when I accomplish small things.

All part of the 'why bother?' frame of mind I've been in for a year.

Dust, vacuum, wash floors, clean bathroom, clean bedroom, clean kitchen, wash clothes, shower, dress.

Why bother ?

And I just don't care.

How bad is that ?
You sound exactly like me. We're sisters after all!
