I find little things help. Buying myself a little treat as a mental pick me up can do wonders for a little while.

My birthday is in July, so my Zodiac sign is Cancer. I have always been fascinated by crabs and other crustaceans.

I bought an aquarium setup and put it together to house a small colony of red-clawed crabs - I bought six of them at Petsmart the other day, and I am having a great time watching them. They are very comical creatures, they are always darting around or scurrying to hide when the big scary human approaches their world under glass.

Silly, but fun. Little crabs the size of a US quarter dollar coin, which cost $2.39 each, are lightening my mood considerably.

Awesome. Those little crabs are pretty cool to watch run around. Enjoy!

The things I used to do that brightened my mood I now receive negative reinforcement/punishment for doing so I'll just step out of this conversation now.

That's awesome. I like sharing food with my rats, them being so happy to see me even if they know their getting goodies brightens my day. Then they chatter and make happy sounds, boosts my day.

Making my fiance and I breakfast and eating with him boosts my mood. Sharing a meal is just so intimate. Wish my family and.I would sit together more often for dinner.

As silly as it sounds putting socks on boosts my mood too. I have so many different colors and patterns and even cartoon characters. Just a splash of color can cheer me up.

I had two pet hermit crabs years ago.

Their names were Chad & Charlie.

I hope yours bring you as much fascination and joy as mine did.

Doing my toenails helps me feel a little better. Sometimes a bath does as well. The trick is to get motivated to do these things when I'm so depressed that even the couch seems intimidating.

I owned red claw and golden claw crabs and I kept having nightmares that they kept coming out of their aquarium and attacking me. So I did not get any more after that! I think it is due to my fear of spiders and other creatures with a lot of legs. Crabs are like beach spiders. Euck!

I too have a fear of crabs, lobsters. They creep me out and have done so since I was like 12, though oddly enough I've loved spiders all of my life and still do, they were always one of my favorite animals.
Anyway I'm glad to hear that you've found happiness in something simple, if I do I'll post it!

Doodling, and now doodling with my daughter. The other day I drew a Zombie santa for my husband (I always draw him zombies) made two copies and colored them with my daughter . Random crafting, and making comfort food.

Thank you for starting this thread! It's fun to read what others like to do to cheer themselves up. When I am so anxious I have to get out of the house I also like to go to the pet store and plan a set up for a pet even if I don't get one. But crabs are great fun! I think it also helps to have something to care for whether it is a plant or animal. My other favorite place to go is a thrift store because you can't get into too much trouble there and you can usually find something fun-a book or a t shirt or a coffee mug...something good. If not it's still fun to look.

You know what boosts my mood?

Chocolate milk.

Guess who's on a diet?

I used to buy hermit crabs a while back. Now, I own two geckos and they're pretty cute!

I was in the hospital for endoscopy and surprisingly I felt super cared for and babied. I loved it lol I don't remember the endo but before and after they were so nice. So I wear the hospital socks when I feel yucky they make me feel comforted. Another thing is I bought my dog a sun dress. I get the biggest kick out of it. Its so silly but it makes me smile :-D

i know what you mean. that sounds cool. i have thought about getting a small pet like that to boost my spirits, maybe you have inspired me, now I'm thinking about hermit crabs ...
when i was working i used to get cheered up by buying an inexpensive shirt now and then.
i love putting on a pair of fresh clean socks and clean sweats.
i have a thing about scrunchies too. i love finding ones that stretch perfectly and make the perfect comfortable ponytail.
enjoy your new pet! thanks for the inspiration
