Over the week end, even though I had to work, I experienced two blocks of time (about three hours each), where I found myself actually, truly happy. I have been depressed big time for so long. I gave a lot of thought as to what may have brought on this very welcome time of happiness. Could not trace it to any thing in particular. I will be paying attention from now on to try to figure out how to bring it on. I could sure do with some more of these moments.

Basically, in the last two years, the only time I have been happy is when I am in therapy. So, has anyone else in the bonds of depression ever experienced this?

Hi, seekersinking, really good news!!
I know it might not compensate as much for you, considering the way you've been feeling/"the bigger picture" but those periods are really big!!
It's good that you've put the thought into what might have contributed to those times, sometimes it can be relatively minor things at the right time that can make so much of a difference. They might not help next time, or the time after, but maybe the time after that......? So try not to rule too many things out.
Then sometimes release can happen for no clear reason at all, like a fog lifting or the sun starting to shine, as depression can come and go in waves. And just as much as it may not be anything specific you've done, it definitely isn't your fault that you're depressed in the first place.
Of course your therapy, and things you've got from it, may be helping in speeding up the process/pushing the depression away too, I know you've been really committed to it which is great!! Every little thing can help!! It can take time but..........
So you've got to be actually feeling more hope then?? even if the periods have passed timewise for now, they're still there in your memory, and you've actually (in reality) felt the possibility of........after so long. A possibility that doesn't have to go away!! You have it in you!!!

this has happened to me lately too but i was really happy when i was outside taking photos of things and i also found this to be true yesterday when i went to the library. it was just relaxing there and i found two great books on understanding depression and stuff. for me this rarely happens anymore, that moment of happiness, the bliss time in my life but when it does, it's awesome and i try to hang on to that for as long as i can for the rest of that day.
