I read this interesting article today:
http://www.somareview.com/boredom.cfm It does seem the more choices I have, the more often I'm bored. I don't like doing some things but when I'm doing them I can't really say I'm "bored". Maybe boredom of this sort and depression are related in some way.

I have got to get motivated! I haven't done "anything" for a couple-three weeks now. I make "plans" in the morning but then don't follow through on them. Major stuff gets done but not the little stuff that makes day-to-day life satisfying and comfortable.
Hmm, here's an interesting idea, "Pledge Bank": http://www.pledgebank.com/?gclid=COi...FSasGgodpxLN3Q http://www.movemountains.com/

(((Perna))) doesn't really sound like boredom to me, as you talk about the day to day little stuff that you use to enjoy life. Maybe it's just that there is so much of the little stuff you are overwhelmed, and pulled back away from it to not feel that way? IDK of course.
How did you function in the past, can you remember? Do you use lists? Reward yourself for small accomplishments? Time limits? Does the major stuff get done because they just have to, in your opinion? Is the smaller stuff being considered a luxury, or being disregarded because you might feel you don't deserve it? What kinds of ways can we here at PC help you get motivated, what can we do, can you decide?

Maybe it's just too many choices for you, Perna? As in "Future Shock" by Toffler?
I feel like I have too many choices, sometimes. When that happens, it's almost impossible to make up my mind. I do get sort of depressed and unmotivated; stuck. It's really frustrating!

Thanks for sharing that soma website. It helps me articulate what I was feeling yesterday morning. I thought I was depressed, but what I was feeling was an emptiness.
It was odd, because I had made myself a list of things to do the night before. But the list was the problem. As soon as I revisited the list and saw I could put it aside, I felt better. The thing that I resisted was forcing myself to try to communicate with people "out there" where it didn't feel safe. Does this make any sense? |

http://www.psychologicalselfhelp.org...chap6_142.html Chapter 6 of Dr Clay's online book. Pg 142, talks about boredom. Many other places in his book do too! Good wishes!
