Hello everyone,

Ok, I've been dealing with some strange thoughts and I'd like to know if I'm the only one, if you already felt it and/or if you can help me.

Just a quick background: I have a great family, a great girlfriend and amazing friends. I'm not quite happy at my job but that's ok, I'm looking for a new one. I also have some self-esteem issues due to my weight but I've been working on that as well.
I go out, I do a lot of different activities, I enjoy them but sometimes I look at people and think "Why would I work on me if life is gonna end soon, you can die tomorrow and even if we don't, we have what? 50 years? It's gonna end anyway. Why should I buy a new dress? We all dress the same way. I don't care. Yes, this movie is great but them what?" etc etc

Do you understand my point? It's so strange that I can't even explain...

Hello Sierana: You know... I think we all have these sorts of thoughts from time-to-time. I certainly do. When you really think about it, what's the point of most of what we humans spend our time doing? And I think there's no particular problem with having these kinds of thoughts occasionally. The danger can be that they can become a "block", so to speak, that keeps you from accomplishing anything; to the point where, as you get older, you'll look back & realize you've squandered your whole life. (I have some personal experience with this...) The antidote is, I think, to find something you love to do, just for the sake of doing it... while you're here... & pursue it without regard for the outcome...

Damn! What a positive insight! Thank you Skeezyks!
You know what I needed was to hear that I'm not the only one facing this "issue".

I think about this often too. Especially after spending time with my 90 year old grandma, she's lived so long and often talks about dying / being prepared for it. It's hard, but makes me think about what the point of anything is. It's good to know I'm not alone.

One thing she told me once at a birthday party where I wasn't eating the cake because I was on a diet was, "Life is too short not to eat the cake." It's along the same line as Skeezyks shared - do what you love and enjoy it.

Yes, it's true. However this feeling of emptiness makes me feel sad and makes me not do things that I may like 'cause... what's the point?
Maybe there's some lack of self-esteem here too, don't you think?
