Help with hoarding

I feel like that all the time.

I read something interesting. Supposedly citrus air fresheners make people pay more attention to cleanliness and hygiene. If I boil lemon peels, will that make me want to clean my house???

I think it would be worth a shot, hvert!

Is hoarding the same as clutter? (serious question)

I personally think they are two different things. Interestingly, this document that shows photos of different clutter levels seems to use them interchangeably.

Maybe clutter is the stuff and hoarding is a behavior?


Jury is still out on the citrus smell. Boiling an old lime didn't produce a lot of scent so I will pick up a candle on my next shopping trip.

If that's the case then my apartment is free from clutter, but my storage cages are hoarded. I think they now represent my multiple personalities - BAD JOKE! But still, I am trying my best to go through the many boxes I've saved in case I needed to move (ever since 2020) and discard the ones I no longer need. I also need to go through the many artifacts I have in there and figure out which ones I can donate. I've donated a lot of accent furniture, and I might have a few more pieces to donate in the future as well. I'm trying not to give too much away, as I might need them for different purposes if I ever do move into a bigger space, but it looks like that dream is dwindling since they keep jacking up the rental prices everywhere.

I've been forgetting to light the candle and am getting behind on the dishes and have so much stuff on the couch, I can't sit there. Coincidence? Going to go light it now!

I do have a citrus air freshener I keep by the cat's litterbox. It hasn't seemed to help me clean though.

My main motivation to wash the dishes and keep the kitchen clean is to avoid cockroaches.

I just got some organizer for my chess and it had clear up a lot of space in my drawer. It was the first excitement I had since I started declutter my bedroom.

I am doing the same down.

I got motivated to deal with this area of the side yard that has been accumulating crap. I took apart the disintegrating mini greenhouse and threw most of it away. I kept some of the metal poles because I thought they might be useful. I also got rid of some old boxes and pieces of styrofoam. It looks a lot better.

Now I have to paint two small metal tables that are in that area with anti-rust paint. They are functional but are fading from the sun and have a bit of rust on them.

I have a repair guy coming today and will be spending the morning trying to make it look like we are not slobs. Wish me luck! Do other people move appliances to clean under them? I don't and I am worried about what kind of build up we're going to find.

The guy made a comment about how these things get broken because people move them to clean them and I was just thinking, dude, that's obviously not why mine is broken.

I am scared to think what might be accumulating under my refrigerator after 3 years. I imagine there is a ton of dog hair.
