The joy of moving! I am currently going through clothes I can't wear anymore and deciding what is special and what to give away. One of my sister is a hoarder and now one of my neighbor is a hoarder. I am working it one day at time.

Wow, good luck with the move prep! That sounds like a great motivator.

I am struggling. 6 years ago I decided to redo a room. I moved all the furniture into another room and hall, making those spaces unusable. I never finished the room. When my father died this year, I moved a bunch of his stuff into that half finished room for sorting.

So now I have a half finished room that has so much stuff in it I can't finish it. The room I moved all the furniture into - you can't even walk through it. There isn't even a path. I have stuff on my list like 'finish redoing room' but where am I supposed to put this stuff? It's so overwhelming. I wish I had finished the room shortly after I started.

Good luck with the move, Rechu! Buffy1, I hope you are making some headway with your closet. I am not opening mine at the moment because I have too much other stuff to toss first, but mine are in a similar state and I know I could toss a lot.

I somehow crammed most of the contents of the unfinished room into a different space and have made significant progress towards finishing by working on it for a small amount of time every day.

I was also able to give some nice things I really don't need or use to a friend who will get some use out of them.

I am thinking about trying to sell a few things on eBay but am not sure it's worth the hassle. Has anyone tried selling on there recently?

Exciting news - my room renovation is basically done - a few odds and ends, some paint touch ups here and there - but I could start moving furniture back in TODAY.

I just got rid of the last piece of my bed and replace it with a new bed. It was hard not to get rid of it. Because I have sentimental attachment to it

A new bed sounds nice! Sometimes I wonder about the things I have sentimental attachment to. I was emptying out a container the other day and found a wallet I had as a child. It even had some yard tied to it, I think the first yarn I ever bought. It's filthy and worn out and you can't tell what color the yarn was (I remember) - but I got excited to come across it

I came across a small box i had lined with "mod" gift wrap - so sometime in the mid-60's? - and used as a desk drawer divider, and honestly i felt sling-shotted - slung-shot? - back to that day in my room at home! They say smells are powerful reminders, but maybe it's because the visuals arent so easily replicated?

I just realized today that I have too much stuff in my closest. I don't know how to get rid of it. I just got rid of the last piece of my old bed which is very hard to do.

That true. I believe you it the visuals aren't so easily replace.

Wow everyone seems to be doing well!

I finally got rid of the bags of clothes in my room and the hall. I have made two more bags that I really have to deal with. I have also started a box of books for the book sale this year. I have to do something the books are every where. Of course that all went full stop for Christmas. My next big thing will be to put all the Christmas decorations and tree away! Then see about getting the living room back into shape. Really wish the rest of the family would help instead of hindering the process!

I got rid of the tree and decorations last week. I really needed the space for something else.

Friday I cleaned out the closet in the room I recently renovated. I found things I hadn't touched since I'd moved in many years ago now. I threw out three trash bags full of stuff and found better homes for other things. Now the closet is mostly empty. It feels weird to have thrown out so many childhood things but also really nice to have the space. I'd only planned on spending thirty minutes on it but wound up taking the whole afternoon to go through everything - definitely had decision fatigue by the end of it.

We're having people over tonight so we had to spend the weekend sprucing things up. I hope I can keep it looking like this.

I have almost a full bag of clothes I can not wear anymore just from my closet that I am donating. I just got rid of my old bed and traded it in with a new bed

It sound great with what you are doing! I had to do in small break because of the anxiety I had been having.

It going to be hard when I clean out the storages and get rid of a lot of things I have.

Good job swapping out the bed and setting out clothes to donate! I find that once decision fatigue sets in, I need to stop. It's probably better to do it in small chunks so it doesn't get to that point, but I have trouble recognizing when I should stop.

I crammed a bunch of stuff into a hallway while I was working on my renovation project and took my first stab at disassembling the pile yesterday. I don't actually have anywhere to put these things so it is forcing me to make some hard decisions.
