I have a dentist appointment today for a cleaning. So I'll see if the increased, although by no means regular brushing has made a difference.

flossed and brushed yesterday and will again today before my appointment.

I had mine, too. The dentist said that one time bleeding (and not a lot of it, and only on the bottom of the mouth) was probably due to accidentally injuring the gum. Since it has not repeated, she is not worried. She found my mouth in good order, but then...

... when she was doing her exam, there was a popping sound and a crown came off one of my farthest bottom teeth. The crown is porcelain fused to metal which means it is old as now they do not make such crowns. She looked it up in my history: the crown dates back to 2012. She suggested we update it to a modern Zirconia crown. I agreed. To do that, since the nerve is very close, I will first need to do a root canal. She referred me out for that since her office is undergoing renovations now and she does not have equipment to do a root canal. I will make an appointment at that other office with her colleague tomorrow. After the root canal is done, I will go back to her for a new crown.

For now she cemented the old crown temporarily and told me to floss carefully, with the movement "through" but not "up".

Most of my insurance allotment will probably be spent on this: root canal and a new crown. I already paid today for that temporary cementing, and also for fluoride coating. The cleaning itself is covered 100% as preventative.

I feel lucky that I have insurance to cover this sudden emergency.

Splitimage, how was your visit?

@Tart Cherry Jam, sorry you need a root canal and new crown, but I guess if you're going to lose a crown at the dentist is a good place for it to happen.

My cleaning went super well, just had some plaque build up in hard to reach spots in my mouth, but overall the cleaning was fast and painless, and no cavities. The dentist said to keep using the antibacterial mouthwash until the itching I have in one spot clears up completely. And they really encouraged me to try to increase the frequency of brushing.

You are really consistent with flossing, with the exception of an occasional rough day and that happens to most everyone.

@Tart Cherry Jam, thanks. Yes it's funny, now my mouth feels yucky until I floss - not sure why I'm not there yet with brushing.

But flossed and brushed yesterday.

For me, 2nd brushing is now hit or miss. Partly it is because I exercise in the evenings and that involves drinking water and eating snacks. I need to figure out a way to go back to 2nd brushing as a rule.

I flossed, scrubbed and brushed when I woke up at 5:30 am. Then I went back to sleep.

Flossed, scraped, brushed at 4:25 AM. Woke up after what seemed like a really long and vivid dream. Almost like a detective story I was both writing as a playwright and being a part of.

Now, going back to bed.

I use a SonicCare toothbrush. I 'feel' that it does a superior job as compared to regular brushes.

Using ACT fluoride mouthwash now that I am up. After it, will wait 30 minutes before having my morning lattes.

I'm sorry you're having difficulties finding time for the second brushing. I'm sure you'll get back to it.

Flossed but didn't brush yesterday.
