My sleep study is coming up. I will take the chin strap there, and the tech who will be setting up everything for the study will help me adjust it so that I can use it. I love my mask, but sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and realize that I have taken the mask off in my sleep; the chin strap is supposed to help with that.

Just wondering, how did your sleep study go, @Tart Cherry Jam?
I came back to this thread because I'm rebuilding a computer, and I wanted to verify that I had the latest Sleepy Head installation program. All my old reports are gone. So I've re-downloaded all the old sleep data from the CPAP machine and generated a new one. Here's the updated report...

My MSLT (the daytime study) showed Idiopathic Hypersomnia. This is because my average sleep lat ncy was short enough (right on the threshold) to qualify me for that diagnosis, and I didn't enter REM during those naps, which disqualified me for Narcolepsy II. However, the nighttime PSG that preceded the MSLT disqualified the MSLT, as I didn't sleep the requisit minimum of 6 hours. I slept less than 5 hours. I was very uncomfortable and even in pain from the adhesive that attached the electrodes to my neck. The adhesives literally peeled skin off my neck and only now, 2 months later, the marks on my neck have finally disappeared. My sleep medicine NP gave me the diagnosis of Idiopathic Hypersomnia without making me go through another sleep study, but it is not clear now whether the insurance would agree to cover Xyrem or Xywav for me to try to treat Idiopathic Hypersomnia. This will become clear in the next few weeks.
On the plus side, I finally learned how to use a chin strap with the nasal cushion, my preferred mask type, and now my machine doesn't show leaks and I no longer have those long-lasting sleep apnea headaches that used to plague me for several hours upon getting up Thank you for asking, Square Peg!
