I thought I would just post and vent here for a minute and share it will you all and ask for some advice.

I have been in c*t free for 6 months now after 10 years of it. Recently I was brushing out my rabbit, which I haven't had time to handle like I should be doing, and she scratched up my arms with her claws, that needed to be trimmed. I do have to admit some do look like c*ts you would get with something sharp cause of their appearance and depth. Thus, my mother and my best friend assumes that I did this. I don't know how else to convince them that I did not. I showed them the bag of fur that I brushed out and the nails I trimmed but they said it wasn't good enough proof. So in turn my mother said that if the rabbit did this then we need to get rid or her. I don't want to lose my best friend for 5 years now. So what do I do? Lie and say I did it, but lose their trust to keep a friend? I'm stuck in though spot.

I don't think you should lie. I think you've made such a huge achievement and you should be so proud of yourself for having the strength to resist for as long as you have!! It's only a shame your mother doesn't trust you... but I'm sure she is just concerned and you cut for so long that any marks on your arms would probably make her assume you'd gone back to it. But I think she should believe you. Just try talking to her calmly. Express to her that you've done so well in NOT cutting and you really need her support. You'd like for it to be acknowledged that you're still fighting this, and for her to believe you if you say that it's the rabbit.

I don't think it's such a big deal if a pet rabbit scratches you, is it? Cats do it all the time. Your mum is probably trying to scare you into "telling the truth", not realising you already are. I'd imagine she wouldn't get rid of the rabbit just because it scratched you, it is a rabbit afterall, not a human. And the nails are cut now anyway so it probably wouldn't be a problem now.

Ahhh, I don't know. I hope you can work it out with her.
x
Thanks for this!

Thanks you guys
Thats my story, the truth, and I'm gonna stick to it
I don't really see why it was that big of deal now looking back on it
I am old enough to make my own decisions anyway
She hasn't yet to support me on this journey.
So I don't really see why she would suddenly care.
Maybe she does care but has a hard time expressing it to me.
Maybe I'm being to hard on her.
They just care I guess enough about me to worry
Thanks You Guys!
