I was in the car on my way to work this morning and had a thought of, "How can I flip the car so that I don't have to go to work anymore and I can still stay home to take care of my family?"
This thought had such a hold on my mind that I can't believe I really even thought that!
I still think about doing it, but I know I can't because I could seriously injure, paralyze or even cause myself to pass on.
These thoughts have run through my mind all day and I can't get them to go away.
It doesn't make any sense....UGH...whatever.

Hi onlymedid, i'm sorry for what you are going thru. I often have similar thoughts, like if i'm crossin the street i often think 'what if i jus stop right now' when there is a car coming or i think 'i really wanna jus walk straight out in to all that traffic' i can't control these thoughts i jus have to try not to act on them. I know its difficult but try an distract yourself from the thoughts your havin by listening to music whilst your driving. I hope you can work through this! Take care

Hello onlymedid! Hopefully you will find a way to distract yourself so that you don't have to virtually give up driving like I did, with obsessive thoughts of driving into opposing traffic. However, I don't recall thinking of it as an escape from having to work - I used to pray to die as a way of avoiding work - lol! It was just an anxious, obsessive thought. Have you thought of planning your work day, as you drive, or thinking about what you will have for lunch or supper. Any thought that will distract you should be helpful. But, from experience, I can tell you that turning your car over usually results in some injury that would do nothing but keep you in the hospital and more away from your family than ever. Personally, my turning my car over resulted in a fractured back, which healed for some years, but which is now requiring surgery. Distraction is, I think, the most constructive way out of these thoughts. May you find a positive and constructive way! billieJ

Thank you, both! ((larakeziah)) Yes, that has been another one of my thoughts. I have the music on when I drive, but my thoughts usually take over everything.
((billiej)) Thanks for the reminder of just how bad it can be to roll the car. I *know* that it is a baaaad idea. I don't think I would ever do it, just thinking about it.
I will try that thinking about dinner or what I am going to do after I get home from work.

Thanks!
