i do self harm, sometime regularly, but sometimes not for about a week. but my question is about this; sometimes when trying to fall asleep, i have vivid visions/thoughts of me clamping a red-hot straightning iron down on my arm, or getting a butchers knife and slamming it down on my arm below the elbow.
a few days ago i tried burning my arm with a pair of straightners, but couldn't bring myself to do it. so what are my thought about? they're so scary when i have them that i have to get up and watch tv to distract myself. xxxxxxxxxxx Last edited by bipolar_bear; Nov 29, 2009 at 09:12 AM. These might be intrusive thoughts? They can become obsessive and can be associated with anxiety. Please stay safe! They are only thoughts. You don't have to follow through with them.

hey thankyou all! im good at the moment; like really good! i ahvent done anything stupid for at least a week and i had such a good day today! got a dance/party thing tonight and im getting all dressed up for it so that'll be fun-but im gonna have to wear a long-sleeved bolero type thing because nobody has seen my arm for about two months. problem is if i get very drunk, i may not care if it's seen. which could go both ways; i think secretly i really want it to be noticed so that i can get the acknowledgment that i need for help...i dunno; we'll see! thankyou again for your replies! xxxxxxxxxx

hey sannah thanks for asking!it was really good! i'm an utter lightweight-so with three cans (and straws to feel the effects better!) i was very loud and hysterical (in a laughing way) with some friends; but still very aware of my surroundings and right and wrong etc...so my arm stayed covered. which i'm very glad about really. xxxxxxxxxxxx
