How are you doing, AmadeusApple?

I'm doing pretty decent. I'm still wary of being too up and I've been home for millions of days because of my laryngitis, so I don't think that has helped me really all that much either, but I go back to work today.

So... is it self-injury if you purposely don't put on sunscreen and then treat the pain as such later? Or is it just stupidity?

It's not stupidity, it's a choice you made. Why did you want to have to deal with pain? What's going on beyond the pain, what motivated this action?

I suppose it's either wanting to hurt or just plain laziness, with me that's always a possibility... I'm pretty lazy.

Ditto on those thoughts, AA.

Self care is important in order to build healthy self worth. Letting yourself burn in the sun sends a message that you aren't worth much care. You have control over the messages that you send to yourself.

It's true that I definitely don't consider myself worth much care, and I've always had difficulty trying to tell myself that I am.
It doesn't help that with whatever my issues are, I don't know how to cope properly. The only coping mechanism I've really ever learned is self injury... |

You can always learn how to cope properly, plus fix the issues in the first place then you won't have to cope. It's like taking tylenol for a fever/infection. The tylenol is coping but if you take an antibiotic and get rid of the infection then you don't have to cope anymore. (The infection is your issues and the antibiotic is fixing the issues, such as learning how to deal with your feelings.).
