im new to the forum but have noticed that alot of the self harm talk is about cutting, i only really cut on my legs ,back and stomach as they are easier to hide than the cuts i used to do, i used to cut alot more but people at work started asking questions and i had to find another outlet, unfortunately the other out let i found was burning myself it really does help me but i dont want to do it any more even though i know i need to, i was wondering if anyone had any input as to how i could cope with the desire/need to do burning or cutting without actually harming myself?

W2BTN,

I'd suggest reading other posts, if you haven't already done so. I've come accross the odd threads that have related to burning.

You won't be judged or disregarded (I hope) for self infliction that isn't cutting. I, for one, don't find myself particularly fussed, since I understand the concept of SI.

Stay strong, stay safe and remember to look after yourself.

Regards,
Akuma

Dont feel that your self harm doesnt matter because its not mentioned as much.

Self injury can be in many forms, cutting, burning, scratching and much more extreme things, which I dont feel is relevant to mention.

So please do continue to post about it, if you need support.

The only tip I have on minimising self harm, is an elastic band, I find that works for both burning and cutting, you jsut put a band on your wrist, and ping it, and it hurts.

Also look around on here and on the internet there are many techniques and distractions.

Well you could cut paper instead or start a barbecue and light up the grill that would start a fire. Just get a lot of things to cut like old bills that mite help the urges. Just a thought.

avoice: i sorta do that abit already, iv taught my self fire breathing and fire juggling which releives stress to a certain extent and the fire helps for some reason, i find that the preparation of my torches and parafin and such calms me down almost as much as alot of other stuff so i use that when i can

Sometimes I use a razor and sometimes I burn with cigaretts. Burning is "better" cuz it don't bleed and makes a little round mark I can hide if I do it in right places
