:
When my parents piss me off or something doesn`t turn out when i am in stress - i need something to exhaust the rage. Pain usually does the work. I bite my hand, or hit it against anything hard. Sometimes hit myself on the head. Is it self injury? I am used to count as that only something like cutting yourself etc. |

Yes, inflicting physical pain on yourself to relieve psychic pain or deal with stress is self injury. We need to learn to view (we can learn to view things so what use to piss us off doesn't anymore) or deal with disappointment in better ways.

yeah right perna thank you
when we observe....with our spirit...there are many things to say about it That it is all an illusion that nohting is parmanenet that we should have perferences instead of musts.. when my dad asks me to do something i get real mad i know i HAVE to so - i know i sholudn`t be angry with him so i take in pain so that he doesn`t have to see it... i feel real mad. i feel mostly like disconnecting with everything around me. i am a furious creature. i try to view thing but it take a process. viewing then = practicing it. |

I thought that SI had to involve some injury. One of the suggestions that they have in the sticky threads is things to do instead of SI, and one of them is to hold an ice cube in each hand, the cold will cause pain but do no dammage.
Hey don't get me wrong I'm not suggesting that pain is a good coping mechanism for rage, but an ice cube might be better than biting yourself.
