So the other day I was in the park with 4 of my friends and it was warm so i had on a sleeveless top. I don't have alot of visible scars on my arm but there is one that is really quite visible. One of my friends questioned me about it, "what's that from?"
I replied "I don't know, it's been there for ages" (how convincing Summer...) then he was like "oh, i thought you'd been cutting yourself, or soemthing stupid liek that."

It was so akward i was like "nope" Summer... and one of the other friends there knows about it but like we've never really spoken about it properly and i couldn't even look at him. Then it got into a big conversation about how cutting is attention seeking and not a way to kill yourself etc etc, needless to say I didn't say much about it.

Anyway I'm just a bit paranoid that it was really obvious that i do cut. So i thought I'd just write somewhere safe to get it out. Summer... Summer...

jetblack, I understand what you're going through, and it's a really uncomfortable situation to be in. Just please remember, they are ignorant to what cutting really is. They don't understand and they judge what they don't understand. It's nothing personal against you, they just don't know what it's really like for those of us who SI or have SI'd and still have the scars to prove it.

I hope things look up for you, and try not to be too paranoid about your cuts. I actually think your excuse as to where you cut came from was a good one, use it whenever you feel you need to use it. You can either make up an excuse such as the one you made up to protect yourself from their judgements, or you can tell the truth and see how they react. I hid mine for a very long time. Then the truth came out. Sure, I got judged for it and looked at funny, but I found out who my true friends were in the meantime as well. Best of wishes to you.

I agree with the others. I'm just glad I kind hide my marks under a sweatband and a watch. It's good that I managed to have some self control eventually... Not saying you don't. It's just people cut in different places and I just did my wrists that were like visible places.

Thanks bama, hope, tamzin!

It wouldn't have bothered me so much if it had just been the two of us, just the fact it was like a group of my friends and y'know.

well most of my marks are in places that can be hidden but this one i wasn't thinking. And plus i have a burn on my arm as well from a party and a pizza (long story lol) so i guess that makes it even more noticeable.
