What are you so unhappy about which is making you want to hurt yourself?
If it's a bunch of things bothering you I find that breaking them down and tackling each problem one by one usually helps. Write them down or write them here and maybe we can help you with some? Remember, don't let others make you feel badly about yourself and do not take on other peoples problems. You have to take care of yourself before you can help others. I've said this before and I'll probably say it ten thousand more times. If it's pain you seek there are other ways to obtain it which are less harmful. Do push ups until they hurt you or go run 10 miles. If you're not a runner I promise it will hurt. I'd rather see you with bad knees than a cut body, and exercise may help you feel better. If you feel you lack the energy to do so, try and you may find the energy. Physical exercise helps to counteract the withdrawal, inactivity and feelings of hopelessness that characterize depression. |

I understand what you're going through. I've gone through episodes where I can't stop thinking about hurting myself for weeks at a time. I don't know about you, but sometimes when I feel that way, the only reason I DON'T do it is because I feel lazy. Sometimes it helps if you can distract yourself. At times, I snap a rubber band around my wrist until my skin is red and tender.
