My mum got mad today because my brother stole some sweets from my mum and she started to get angry at me. She was calling us ponces and saying about us moving out. When I was about to go out, she said something about me cutting and I got angry and I said she doesn't know anything about it. Meaning she doesn't understand about self harm. I went out and kicked a recyling bag as I was so mad. I'm just so angry and she was horrible to my sister last night or the night before. Hitting her on the face and saying that my sister makes my mum's life a misery. Is my mother horrible? Is self harm attetion seeking? I'm just normal aren't I?

ok it sounds like you are dealing with some tough situations at home. And the self harm may your way of coping with it and other stressors in your life. Can you find a teacher, a doctor, a school counsellor, a family friend, a aunty, uncle or someone to really talk to about whats happening? You will need to be honest and it needs to be someone who is trust worthy and who will take action to help you. You are normal, but self harm is not a safe coping mechinism. I dont belive its ''attention seeking'' it can be many things, none of them straightford or simple.
You need to reach out for some help, will you do that? |

EG, your mum seems to have some serious issues. You are reacting normally to a dyfunctional mother. It would be better for you, however, to move past this reacting to her. You need help to do this. I know you have been bouncing around a lot of ideas this last week with where you could start to get help. I hope you make a choice this week and take a first step in getting some help.

Didn't we meet just now in that other thread of yours?
1. Self harming is definitely NOT attention seeking 2. If you are self harming you need to address that problem and get help.

Well apparently, self harm is attention seeking from my mother. I'm too scared to go to the doctors and I don't think there is anything wrong with me.

What! I don't consider your mother an expert on mental health. Sounds like you are minimizing your issues. Everyone is scared about many things but you have to do these things that are good for you anyway (getting help), fear or not.
