Does anyone have scars that itch? I have 2 deep scars (one was stitched, one should have been). The first happened in July and the second in September. They should be healed now, shouldn't they? Or, do they itch for longer? Yeah, I'm thinking it's some psychosomatic BS now. That would be me!

Itching is often a sign of healing.

Sorry you are being bothered by your scars.
Maybe take this "itchy" feeling and try to focus on what made you cut and how you can start overcoming those pains and fears and hurts?
Just a thought!

Mine have itched for a long time! I haven't cut in 3- 1/2 weeks now, but ones I made over summer still itch. It's getting alot better though now that I'm not picking at them and making more cuts. Keep the areas moist with lotion and maybe try hydrocortizone.

Mine itch all the time. I don't know why when they're already healed and everything. Try some anti-itch cream or something. I had to go out and buy some myself, actually.

Itch, itch, itch!!! Itchy scarsand everywhere else....

Yes, it is a sign of healing. As the cells grow together and fill in the scar, it pulls, thus itching. My left arm itches like mad so bad that somedays I go & take a loofa pad & go crazy!
Follow with a Intensive Moisture Cream (St. Ive's has an incredibly cheap Intensive Healing Cream...works GREAT!)You will have sloughed off dead skin cells and then that lotion sucks in deep & refreshes new skin and STOPS the itching for hours up to 24 hours at a time....Check it out.

I just wanted to add to this b/c I remembered reading this thread and my cuts have been bugging me too.. but I usually just kind of ignore it or don't really give it a 2nd thought... again, the whole concept of actually caring or taking care of myself is above my head but hell, if there's something to make them not itch why not! so tried an anti itch cream like it was suggested in here (and to me in a nother post) and it worked really well! try Goldbond's, for relieving pain (it's medicated) & itch. it has this minty smell and honestly feels like a mint when you put it on, might even be somewhat intense but it doesn't hurt. eventually it goes away and the itch's gone... I don't know if this is due to it just being A cream or b/c of the anti-itch but it's worth a shot.

Thanks! Itchy scars
I try to keep them moisturized, but I will get some anti-itch cream if it seems to help. The itch is really deep and intense at times. (Serves me right!)
Here's hope that we can all stop this self-destructive behavior!
HUGS!
