I don't think self-injury is bad and all people who do that should be pushed away and called psychos. I don't glorify self-injury nor do I encourage anyone to do so but for God's sake, stop being all so angry and mean to people who are in pain. We deserve respect too and compassion. Everyone pushes cutters away. Everyone thinks we are insane and it's only our fault that we're in pain. I started cutting after my mother threatened to kill herself because of me and when I posted about it on some 'support forum', people took her side and accused me of everything. Then they threatened to find me and beat me. I started burning after my father was arrested and the first Easter without him, my 'friend' told me she won't support me because he deserved that (he didn't!). I have real problems and real reasons to self-injury, I have no one to talked to, no therapy, no friends, what else was I supposed to do? I don't sound so ******* apologetic about self-injury because I don't think it's wrong. Don't demonise it. It's acceptable to drink or to smoke but cutting? No, that's so out of line. In Norway (or Sweden) drug addcits are deeply supported- while cutters remain outsiders whom everyone hates.

Welcome to PC! Sorry to hear about your parents. I also don't get why cutting is so taboo. It is a coping mechanism and addiction, and that is it. I think part of the reason that it is taboo is because people don't know/understand it. It isn't talked about much so many people don't know/understand it, and people tend to shy away from things they don't understand.

Hi Bathony, welcome to PC. I'm sorry that you are in distress. Why don't you have a therapist?
