I have been cutting for several years now, and each time it seems to get worse. I just recently had to get stitches (again) and was hospitalized (again). I cut on my arm so it is visible. I have a lot of old scars, and now the newly healing ones. The problem is that my daughter came to me last night with a scratch on her arm. She told me that she thought since I did it to feel better that she would try it. I am so ashamed. What have I taught her? I try to quit, but then I get so lost and I "need" to do it again. I guess I feel like I had to admit to this in writing. Thanks for "listening".

Guilty... Guilty... Guilty...

I am sorry.
How old is your daughter?
Maybe you could tell her that its not good to cut youself like that.
I had to tell my little brother that what I do is a sickness and it can be addicting. He looks up to me, so I know how you feel.
I hope you feel better.
PM me if you'd like.

Thank you for understanding. She is 10. I asked her if it "helped" and she said no, so hopefully she won't get out of it what I do. I wish my response to it wasn't so positive. Then it wouldn't reinforce it so much.
I tell her the same thing, that it is from an illness and it is not a good thing to do. I hope she gets that.
