My friend, about a week or two ago, told me that she would stop burning and cutting. She had talked to a friend and he had been giving her support.
She hadn't known I was cutting, so I told her that at that point it was 7-8 weeks for me.
Today, it's been about two weeks for her and 10 weeks for me.
I'm super proud of both of us, especially her because she had been doing it for so long. Plus, it's been a record-setting four days without urges for me, which is scary but awesome at the same time.
So, yeah.

You should be really proud of both of you. Self harm is a hard addiction to quit.
Sometimes it just has to be the right time, if you know what I mean. Having someone else to be in it with is helpful. You both know how the other feels, you know you don't have to hold secrets back and you can encourage yourself. Its also just the two of you so its not a huge group where you can get lost. (Not that support groups are bad, its just hard to be an individual. ). Keep up the good work. In the long run, not only will you be happier, but knowing that you were able to quit something like that will give you strength to face any hardships that may come your way. Not everyone can beat it or even go as long as you have. I think that is great!

The same thing happened to me as well, and it's a really good thing. We both used to SI and if it hadn't been for her, I'm sure I would have relapsed by now. We don't talk about SI a lot, but we have this mutual unsaid understanding.

So I'm happy for you JettSett!
