Hi all,

I have decided once again to try to find help for my self harm. I am going to tell my current T that I have been and am self harming. She will, almost certainly, terminate with me...seeing as she made me sign a contract stating that I wouldn't self harm and if I did, she would terminate. However, I have found a T close by that is willing to help me explore my impulse to SH. So wish me luck.

I agree with the bee.......... and part of me is upset that any shrink would dump you when you clearly are in a time of need. just seems wrong.

Actually I used to feel the same way about her terminating me when I was in such need of help. Now I just take it as a sign of it being time to move on. Now it's just time for me to get the help I NEED not the help someone is just willing to give.

Have you looked into DBT? I am in it.... but pretty new to it. I can see "how" it could help.

Getting ready to start a DBT group again that I was in last year. I'm really ready for anything that will help this time.

Good for you! I think you're right that you need a therapist who can talk to you about SI without kicking you out. They can't help you tolerate your feelings if they can't tolerate your feelings.

Thanks for all the supports people. I also called my Pdoc about switching T's just to get his thoughts on it and hopefully his support.

Good luck! I find it hard to believe that a therapist would drop you when you in such a time of need, it makes me sad. But it is probably for the best you get rid of them if they operate that way.

You find it hard to believe a T would drop you when you are in need? Well my T gave me an ultimatum - stop or I can't see her anymore. How messed up is that? I see her today in 4 hours to give her my decision. Wish me luck!
