Even when I'm doing pretty well (which, overall I have been), I still think about it ALL the time. I'll leisurely think about it in my spare time..... think about where I'd do it, what I'd use, how I'd cover it up, etc. And it's not even necessarily restricted to SI. I think about how I might permanently hurt myself.... like it's as big a decision as having chicken or fish for dinner? How crazy is that??!

It doesn't sound crazy. I did it for a very long time. It is actually pretty normal. But generally in time as you resist and learn to cope the thoughts do fade. It isn't something that just comes to you naturally any more if that makes sense.

I don't think they ever completely go away but they aren't as common in time.

I unfortunately have been having the urge to SI anytime my anxiety has went up lately. It's awful, and I wish the urges would disappear.

My urges have just recently started to fade somewhat, I still have them but it's usually when I'm under extreme stress. It's gotten better than it was, it used to be my first reaction whenever I was upset or stressed, it's still in the back of my mind but I have coping skills that have replaced it.

Thanks all ... I know I'm not the only one with these thoughts, but it's nice to hear that i'm not alone every now and then.

I think about it often but I don't act on it but every 2 weeks or so. You're not crazy at all - its a part of your norm.
