Four years ago, I cut myself on purpose, not very bit and deep cuts. Just very small cuts that caused minimum bleeding. Took less than a couple minutes to stop the bleeding. I hated it, it was for pain control, not attention. As a matter a fact, only one person in my whole life knows about it and she wasn't even around at that time. Even my parents have no idea about it, they think it was an accident. Didn't want any attention since that is not what I was looking for and felt so stupid. I tend to get depressed and feel very lonely easily and often and that is when sometimes I have thoughts about doing it again but never act on it, and probably never will.

I never sought out attention with my SI either. I'm glad you aren't acting on the thoughts, SI can become very addicting after awhile. I hope you can continue to fight the thoughts about it, because seriously it's not worth it.

People SI for a lot of reasons and the majority don't want attention. It is more about pain release.

It is great that you have managed to not do it again. As the poster above me said, if done regularly it can become very addicting and difficult to cope without it.

Yep, it can be, and I almost fell into that trap but stopped before it got out of hand.

Yep, I've managed for four years although recently I have considered doing it again but never have done it and don't plan on it since I know it can cause further problems and could easily push people away from me.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
