Hi, when ever I get really stressed out or whenever I sink into one of my bad depression moods and when ever I feel like I'm physically dying inside from all the pent up emotions that I can't let out (and don't know how to get out), I literally, destroy my fingers. The thing is, I don't even know I'm doing it until I wonder why my fingers are wet and notice it's because they start to bled pretty bad...
I want to stop it... but how can I stop if I don't even know I'm doing it until to late? Does anyone know what I can do? Because I sure don't.... ![]() Thanks Hunter Storm Last edited by notz; Dec 28, 2013 at 10:44 AM. Reason: added trigger icon |

You could wear gloves.... But if you don't notice that your doing it until its too late you'll probably have to figure out why you do it and try and fix that part.
Otherwise gloves, band-aids, or medical tape might help keep you from doing it because you'll be like... oh there's something on my hand... |

Hi Hunter, I used to keep scratching at my fingers, so bad that all the skin would come off. It was a nightmare. I used to use thick band aids on all 10 of my fingers. I know how bad it looked but I was more concious of tearing because I couldnt get at them. Over time it lessened. I think it was part anxiety part habit. I just became more mindfull of what I was doing.

I'm so sorry that you're going through this, Hunter. I wish I could take away your pain... I like the idea of wearing gloves - no matter how it looks, you can primarily do all the same things, and then it'll make it harder for you to unconsciously destroy your fingers. After I started cutting, I didn't keep a razor blade on me, but I always found myself unconsciously hurting myself, and bruising my wrists - so I had to always wear thick sweaters with long sleeves that masked my wrists and made it harder for me to do this. Do you have any gloves? I think it's worth a shot - if you do try it, make sure you let us know how it goes

I've destroyed my thumbs through biting them and I never notice until it's too late. So, I try to keep my hands busy with a stress ball. It works when I can remember where I last put the stress ball. My memory was never on my side. That's all I can suggest. I'm sorry if I'm not much help to you...
