I have been going through more crap than usual and I don't know if I can handle it. (Abuse, flashbacks, voices in my head, insomnia, terrors, panic attacks, r*p* memories, and much much more)

I haven't SIed in 4 or 5 months but it's getting hard

(When I SIed before I would recut my scars so I wouldn't have so many) and so...
I recently had arm surgery and I have a huge scar. And I've been having urges to cut. I really want to cut on my surgery scar but that is VERY VERY bad because I would hit the metal plate in my arm and that would be bad... But I REEEALLY want to cut on it.

What should I do?
Nothing that is supposed to help you cope works for me.

I'm starting to panic and I don't know what I'm supposed to do!

Please don't harm yourself. Can you call a hotline in your area and talk to someone?

You haven't harmed in a really long time, which is a testament to your strength. You have the power to not do it. But, fighting the urges is tough. I think that it is important to keep your si tools out of easy access, so it takes more physical effort to get the implements.

Please be safe

Can you make yourself get out of the house and go far a walk?

Try covering or bandaging the surgery scar so it does not visually tempt you.

The Butterfly Effect is to help people that have a problem with self-injury or for anyone else that knows someone that has this problem or just for support.

here are the rules:

1. When you feel like you want to cut, take a marker, pen, or sharpies and draw a butterfly on your arm or hand.

2. Name the butterfly after a loved one, or someone that really wants you to get better.

3. You must let the butterfly fade naturally. NO scrubbing it off.

4. If you cut before the butterfly is gone, you’ve killed it. If you dont cut, it lives.

5. If you have more than one butterfly, cutting kills all of them.

6. Another person may draw them on you. These butterflies are extra special. Take good care of them.

7. Even if you don’t cut, feel free to draw a butterfly anyways, to show your support. If you do this, name it after someone you know that cuts or is suffering right now, and tell them. It could help.
