When I was younger in middle school I would cut in the bathrooms. Never at work though. By the time I got a job I had quit cutting for a year or so already. But I try to keep it in my room behind a locked door.

Yes. School was where I learned it from a classmate. We carved our boyfriends' names in our arms. Did it at work during this last nervous breakdown. I'm not proud of it, but what's done is done. I usually do it on the backs of my arms in a slashing rage, but with a serrated blade (steak knife, plastic knife) so as not to do too much damage. I do NOT want to need medical attention for it, but there is a lot of anger behind it. I'm just trying to take that internal self-hated and bring it to the outside.
Recently, I learned to bite on the soft part of my forearm or pinch there if I'm in public somewhere. It helps me calm down if I'm going into a panic attack (which in me looks a lot like rabies and is beyond embarrassing). Bruises are much easier to explain than cuts.

Better question- did you show her directly, or at least try to hide it?

In highschool I used to cut in the bathrooms and sometimes during class. I would have a small knife up my sleeve and under the desk I would make it look like I was scratching my ankle under the pants, but I was actually cutting... I also did it once at work lately because a coworker unintentionally caused a flashback.

And last summer when the pressure was too high at work, while driving to my deliveries I would lift my shirt a bit and scratch my belly until it bled. Not my proudest moments...
