I am unsure of the reason but a few years back I lost my ability to feel pain I will cut myself or burn myself or even hit myself but it does not hurt sometimes it even feels good.I still continue the self abuse at times it gives me this rush that for some reason I enjoy.what should I do about this?

Lillybird, have you talked to a professional about this problem? Maybe you could begin with a regular doctor. I am concerned that this lack of pain might lead you to keep trying to injure yourself to see if you can feel it.
Thanks for this!

No I havent mentioned this to my pdoc yet but I probably should bring it up during our next visit.I think you might be right.its possible that my lack of pain is caused by how much I have injured myself to a point where I have become numb to it kind of.

Dear Lilybird,

I do hope you will talk to your pdoc about this. It is so important to be honest and forthright with them. Usually I SI because the internal pain or emotions and thoughts hurt worse than what I do...hopefully your pdoc and T can help relieve some of the suffering so that you that you will be more aware and learn other ways to pause and alleviate that pain...

Please be kind to yourself...I know this can be very hard when you are overwhelmed...but make a list of other things you can do to be gentle with yourself, before turning to thosr behaviours. Try to do at least three of them before you turn to hurting yourself. I have to engage and ground at least 2-3 of my senses to make it work...like hot bath, with smelly good bubbles and calming music...thus touch, smell, and hearing or sight...then I can slow thoughts and emotions to the poiny ehere I can make better decisions for myself.

Hope this helps a little..
