While you and the scars are healing, what about getting some camouflage make-up, especially for scars? It should be heavy duty enough not to wash off your wrists, when you wash your hands. Then later you can decide about a tattoo.

I know what you mean about not wanting to forget; I still have a small scar on my arm from years ago... but the scars do not tell our story, we do... and our story is still being written.
Thanks for this!

When I was 16 I overdosed. My liver almost failed. When asked by the doctor if I had tried before I said yes. He asked me why. I said because my father was being an *** (excuse me for not wanting to just blurt out the years of abuse to someone I had just met under rather traumatic circumstances.) and he responds with "I think you're the ***." Thanks man, really, from the bottom of my heart. (Jerk)

I think sometimes medical professionals can be the least understanding, after all here they are trying to save lives and watching others struggling to live and then there's that person who wants to take theirs. It could be quite confronting.
Thanks for this!
