Can self harm escalate (like with drugs where you have to take more and more and move on to harder drugs to get the same high)? I feel like a simple cut or a bruise isn't working anymore. I crave something far more damaging. I don't mean suicide (that's a whole other topic). I really wish I weren't so ****ed up.

Yeah it can definitely escalate.

Yeah it can escalate, it did with me. I didn't get the same feeling from smaller cuts and had to keep going further to get that feeling again.

It can get to a point where one's level of tolerance keeps going up. It happened with me. It may be a good idea to adddress this with your treater if available.
