Has anyone ever had a cut get infected?
What did you do about it?
If you went to the doctor, how did they react and what did they do to treat it?

depending on how infested you could clean it with peroxide and put antibiotic ointment on it. if it is red and swollen and hot to the touch or you are running a fever you should go to the doctor. he would treat it much the same way but with better antibiotics and probably prescribe antibiotics. he may do nothing, he may send you for a mental health evaluation to see if you are a danger to yourself, or he may evaluate you himself to see if you are a further danger to yourself.

I had a cigarette burn on my calf that got infected. Had to see the doctor, leg was swollen and I couldn't walk lol

I did what I always do when faced with a GP and my mental health issues.

Told them I was already in therapy and didn't need a lecture.

Most seem satisfied with that. Really, all they could do was send me to therapy and since I'm already there I can see no reason why I need to hear it.

Our experiences won't be of much use to you - the way professionals have reacted to us won't necessarily be the way they react to you. If you suspect infection, seek out professional help anyway as they would be best placed to know what to do. Can you maybe ask your family practitioner over the phone? They may think it's better for you to come and see them but if you can accurately describe the situation over the phone they should at least be able to assess the current level of risk and what should be done more immediately.

Hope this helps.
