What type of post does the *trigger* addition apply to?

And what are some of the abbreviations I see around, stand for? (ie T, dx, pdoc) o_O

Sorry, everyone else seems to know, but I don't. Newbie with a Question

Oh, I suppose a bit of background on me would be errrrr... appropriate? *shrugs*

At different points I've done alot of self injuring behavior: cutting, burning, rug/pavement rash on purpose, punching inanimate objects repeatedly to see how long I could stand to do it before the pain was too much, scratching, slapping, punching, throwing myself at walls, digging fingernails into my skin hard enough to leave bruises, pinching to leave bruises/blood blisters, biting.

And 'Beautiful_Pain' because...well, maybe another time. o_O

So, I thought I would start in this category...though a few of the others apply to me as well.

trigger - indicates that the content of said post might upset someone if they are sensitive to that kind of thing. Some examples might include descriptions of self-injurious behaviors (SI=self injury), talking about suicide, trauma, abuse, etc. (definitely not an exhaustive list)

T - therapist

pdoc - psychiatrist

GP - general practitioner

dx - diagnosis

tx - treatment

rx - prescription

If you come across anything else, go ahead and ask. Chances are somebody else might be wondering too. And if someone understands these differently than I defined them, please speak up, ok? Some of them I just picked up from context here, so I could be wrong.

Welcome. I'm sorry you hurt yourself so much. You're not alone here though, and your sn (screen name) makes perfect sense to me. Newbie with a Question

Thanks for the help, Rapunzel

I'm sorry too...but I'm not. Hard to explain that last bit. *shrugs*

And the sn sums me up quite nicely alot of the time, I think.
