Hi, all. I came here for suggestions. I am 41
Possible trigger:
Doctors have made me feel so immature and stupid, but I can't stop. I try to hide it, but sometimes my children see my new cuts. They have never witnessed the act or walked in on me, thank goodness. My kids are 16 and 11, both boys. I feel so small and worthless. Please don't tell me I'm not worthless or that I have my children to protect. I know these things. I just can't stop. I have been diagnosed bipolar (emphasis on the depression side), borderline personality disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder. I've tried distractions, rubber bands, and ice. I have tried many things, praying, meditation, art, screaming, and have been hospitalized many times. Other than seeking therapy, which I am doing, do you have any suggestions as to how I can stop? I am just looking for something new to try. Thank you....

i understand how once the thought gets there, how impossible it is not to do it. what worked for me was working through a book called the scarred soul. you can get it used on amazon for a penny and 3.99 s&h. it was very non-threatening. read a chapter, answer questions. helps you understand why you are doing it and such. makes you feel safe in that it really doesnt ask you to stop what you are doing throughout the process. then when you finally get to that chapter to make the commitment to stop, well i wasnt ready....so i stopped working the book, but i didnt cut for over five years. i was in the midst of a breakdown then and only cut a couple times and it has been over 8 years now since i have cut. so it really worked for me. good luck and if you need to talk, send me a message.

Something that helped me was taking halloween blood and making cuts with that and it looks real. Now that its September you can get a tube of Halloween blood for a dollar at Walmart. It helps because you see blood but you don't hurt yourself.

I don't think the trigger warnings come up unless you do the codes twice on either side of the text in question. Check out the HTML codes in my message above this.
