I have been trying to break the self harm addiction and have avoided my worst behaviour
Possible trigger:
for a few months, probably about 4 so far, but over the last week I've slipped up with more minor hurting myself, I know it's a slippery slope if I give in .... I want to stay on the wagon, but it's so tempting!

Hang in there Fizzyo and try to avoid the slippery slope.

Did you see this article on the myths of self harm? It helped me.
https://www.google.com/url?q=http://...GtLlzfGxFF4aPQ

I like these alternatives she mentions:

Here are some alternatives for you. Instead of hurting yourself, give these a try:

Write your feelings down and then tear them up. Feelings come and go and you don’t need to keep re-reading something that is upsetting or triggering.
Move around. Exercising or dancing releases endorphins in your brain that make you happy.
Run ice cubes down your arms or legs
Freeze an orange and then hold it in your fingertips for a brief time
Draw a picture of yourself and mark it where you want to hurt yourself.
Scream and yell out your frustrations
Throw some pillows around; punch them if you have to.
Color or paint, make it as pretty or ugly as you want.
Make something, anything.
Fill a mason jar with colored water and glitter; shake it when you’re stressed.
Ask for help, it’s a hard thing to do but also one of the bravest and strongest.

Fizzyo, it's not 'behaving', it's treating your self and your body with the care and respect they deserve.

Still a fight much of the time, distraction works fairly well during the day.
Possible trigger:
Just need to keep making the right choices each time I'm tempted.
Possible trigger:

I know it's up to me, no one makes me do it.
Thanks for asking

Interesting. The day those birds came to me is when this thread was posted I think. So that's what they were trying to say. You remember my PM about that? ^_^ Stay strong Fizz. As one if the above posters said, it isn't "behaving" it's giving yourself the respect that you need. I know giving in can sometimes be tempting, but when it comes to any form of addiction, here's what has helped me.

Whenever a urge is hitting you, consider the addiction. Honestly.
Now ask yourself this:
"Is this improving me, or my life?"
And if it isn't, ask yourself this:
"Is this harming me, or my life?"
(if for some weird reason the addiction is beneficial, ask yourself if the addiction to the thing is good. Usually isn't, otherwise why would you be trying to break it? And addictions are 99% of the time bad anyways)

Now ask yourself this:
"Am I really going to be hurting myself again? Why?"

That is the first step to breaking it. Figure out why it's so tempting. Then you can use that info, and strengthen your resolve, and try to fix that lack of whatever you have, with something other than self harm.

Hope this helps you Fizzyo. I'll be there for ya. ^_~

Fell off today, on holiday so no means to do too much but still used pain to help me feel better. Not Condemning myself but lacking motivation to try to climb back on.
