I think I may hurt myself to feel something. To feel alive maybe? But what do you do when you can't feel the pain anymore? Me hitting myself in the face, or hitting something else is something I do on impulse. I do it to in a way, function.. But when I hurt myself just because like putting things out on my arm, burning myself, or choking myself those things are for the most part intentional, and I do them to sort of feel, and now I can't.

Sounds pretty familiar. I think a lot of us deal with simple "not know WHAT we are feeling".

I relate to that too. I have been lucky enough to attend a programme (Stepps) where I learned to identify some of what I feel which helps somewhat. Sometimes feeling nothing is easier than what I feel underneath but still horrible and then I want to feel too! Hurting myself helped in the short term,

sometimes for me it's too feel (or rather check), i can still feel anything- if i'm still alive and able to feel emotions

on the lowest of low days it comes in to play big time
