My username is Liz1965 and I am 50 years old. I am having a rough time dealing with my parents and the verbal abuse that I get from my mom,it got so bad this time, that I ended up cutting my toe nail way to short,I put neosporin on it and a bandage. I am so sick of my mom treating me like a child and that I can not make decision on my own, I was feeling so frustrated and tired of it that I had to get rid of the emotion pain that I was feeling and feeling numb so much. My therapist is aware of my issues with SI, I needed to vent and get this off my chest. I just hope that my toe will be alright. sorry if I upset with anyone with what I wrote. I just need to increase my coping skills or find some new ones, if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. again thanks.

Hi Liz1965. Sorry you are having a rough time with your parents. Doing things when I am angry or hurt I usually regret. I would rather sit in the bathroom till I calm down or listen to music or take a shower.

Here is one article on coping with anger. Dealing with Anger Constructively | Psych Central

There's always the hard question of forgiving someone later, but just sitting there and taking it while it's happening???
