i looked up self injury...cutting to be exact....and what came up? A site for kids health site....which to me was pretty cool cuz when i was that age i had no idea that there were others doing the same thing i was doing (funny how that no matter how old you are you think your the only one huh) and i checked the site out just to see what it would say...it started out ok ...and then there was this big green box with a green flashing star and it read ..

"A Cry For Help
Some people with very dramatic personalites
cut as a way to call attention to themselves. Kristy
cut in the school bathroom so her friends could find her.
When they showed fear or panicked at the sight of Kirsty bleeding, it reinforced her cutting. Fortunatly, the school counciler helped Kristy get the assistance she needed."

this makes me sooo angry...i mean how can they tell younger kids that...and then i also saw this...

"Younger teens are more likely to cut — perhaps because older teens know other ways to deal with problems."

This makes my blood boil...i hate it!!!!! Oh Boy if i had the power id wipe that crap from that site...they have no idea what they are talking about ..they guess...and they try to make people feel bad about cutting ( its not good but still) so they dont do it..they try to devalue their problems so people feel inadequate...grrrrrrrrrrrr.....

http://www.kidshealth.org/teen/your_...h/cutting.html

GGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

sorry for the rant
love,
inny

So many people don't understand SI. It is unfortunate that they put on websites information that is not informed. I hope that the public becomes more educated and understanding about SI. (((((((((((((Inny)))))))))) I am sorry that it upset you so much. It is very discouraging and upsetting to have this information being directed at younger people who take it as fact since it is posted on a website.

Perhps it would be wise to email the link provided there? I mean it might not make one iota of difference but if a few people with proper experience with SI did, it might!!!

i actually did just email them and tore them apart...lol they probably think im attention seeking...thats why i hate that type of thinking...they think your attention seeking...you react to them and tell them your not attention seeking...and in their eyes you just confirmed it....grrr what a cycle...yes this hit every hard for me. I am going to post about it in another post. Thanks guys. love, inny
