Hi all. I know that the best option is to not cut but I am wondering if anyone knows where the best place to cut is. I have been cutting the hands and arms but I don't think these are the safest places because of obvious veins and stuff. Sometimes I shoot myself with a paintball gun because it scars but is less likely to ruin my nerves and stuff. Anyway if you have answers on the safest place please respond.

I can't and won't answer that question. There is no good place to cut. I can give you suggestions though. Put your hands in a bowl of water with ice cubes in it and keep them there for as long as you can stand. It will give you pain and release endorphins. Take a shower as cold as it gets and make yourself stay there. More pain. It's also a way of helping to ground us into a better space then wanting to cut. Take a crayola marker and draw the spots on your body, like blood. Then take your cold shower. I am sorry that you feel the need to cut and hope that you can look at, and work on what is behind it. I know it sucks to feel that way. Good luck.

Wisewoman is correct. This is not the place to compare best cutting sites on the the body. It is a place to give options of how not to cut and support when someone does and needs hugs and understanding.

I find using henna works wonderfully for me. I apply the paste where I would normally cut or hurt myself. I must hold still for an hour while the paste dries. Then I have a tattoo that will be there for at least a week to remind me of my success in not cutting.

Journalling triggers and ways to cope with those triggers was extremely helpful too me. It made me aware of the patterns that I followed in my cutting behavior and I became more able to control urges before they appeared. I divided a piece of paper into collumns titled: Trigger, Feelings, Thinking, Positive Action Taken, Results. The whole process helped me learn a lot about myself.

Good luck,
Carrie

Posting requests for information on the best places to self-injure on one's body is not appropriate to this forum, thank you.
