hi im lexi. im new here... and this seems to be the category i most fit in. so im gonna introduce myself.
im 18. i have been cutting for 4 years now. im comfortable doing it, like it defines me. it is kinda a comfort, like i know i can rely on it to give me the effect i want. i have tried other things, but nothing has helped. does anyone have any comments, or advice, that is not the usual, oh, just dont do it, or, hold ice, rubber bands, stuff like that?

i mean it defines in me in that... at my school i am basically defined as the cutter... one of the outcasts, the person who hurts themselves... no one really knows me. or knows who i am. i guess im comfortable in it. ppl keep there distance from me.

Hi Lexi,
Welcome to PC. Hope you find lots of support here. I'd just like to say that you are so much more than a labble. Being a cutter is not who you are as a total person, it's a coping mechanism no more no less. I do however understand how people get labelled at high school, just try not to let it define your life. If you want to stop cutting, it is possible, although it is hard. i've only cut once in the past 3 years, although I still get urges. I found therapy really helped me. Is there any chance that you could talk to a councillor at school or to your parents about finding you a therapist? Take care of yourself. --splitimage |
