hello this is my first time talking to other people about cutting. ive been cutting for 3 years now and have tried smoking and other drugs as a different coping source but it just isnt the same. ive thought about going to a therapist but im just to scared to go and im to scared to talk to my parents about it. hopefully im not the only one that feels like this.things have been getting worse and ive been thinking about suicide more but i havent taken any actions on it.

Max,

(((((((((hugs if you want them))))))))))

The first time you go to a therapist, tell them about your SI, or tell your parents, it is scary. All of us go through that. But it isn't as bad as you think it is going to be, and it gets much easier. Talking to us here is a step forward. You can do it!

I agree with Ozzie seeing a therapsit is a great idea. I won't say it will be easy as it was one of the hardest things I did when I finally told my T about the SI. Once I did and suprise guess what he didn't think I was a bad person or tell me he couldn't see me. You have taken the first step by talking about it here. I know you can take that next step and talk to a therapist.

Hey, well i agree with ozzie too... And talking about it is scary (beleive me) my mom freaked, but my therapist told her all about it and it got better... all she told me after the talk with my therapist is that if i go too deep that i tell her. (but i dont think i would) But it might help to get a therapist and then have her talk to ur parents with you about SI... The only reason parents freak is because they think ur killing urself and thats not the case...

hope things turn out for u and u can message me any time u need to talk... alright....

Welcome! I hope we'll be able to help you out here. Most of us have been there, and those who haven't seem to understand our feelings pretty well. I'm happy for you that you finally had the courage to speak up about si. It helps a lot to know that others understand, doesn't it?

(((hugs))) <-- if ok with you
