I would want people to know that it is more then a cry for attention. It is almost like the pain inside is so intense that it cannot be put into words. Then it builds up and up until the urge to cut is unbearable. Then after it is all over...I tend to feel extreme guilt and shame and spend the next few days hiding from everyone, which adds more stress onto one's life.
I guess the one thing that I want from others is just some understanding and the kindness to not receive the title of "psycho" because of SI.
