I've read places that SI is people crying for help and wanting attention. I don't do that, I hide everything I do. The other thing is SI is cutting and I dont cut all the time, I do other things. Sometimes I go extreme and people just think I'm accident prone. Last winter I started going after my legs every day. I can't seem to stop even though I want to. Now spring is coming and I'm scared. Is there any way to heal quicker? I've tried vitamin E, aloe an some scar creme I bought at the store, nothing seems to help. I hurt my knee and should get checked out but won't because don't want to answer to my legs. This has been my secret and I'm petrified someone might find out. Thanks for letting me vent.

(((((((((((Jade))))))))))))) do you need actual medical treatment? What kind of injury is it?

I'm sure some other people have ideas about quicker healing remedies...

As for the attention-thing, I think it differs from person to person, the same with the type of self-injuring.

if you need medical treatment - get it. don't worry about what may or may not be said.
as for "the attention" thing, personally i think ppl say that who don't understand.
I've seen a scar pack in albertsons... looks like a big bandaid with i guess scar cream in it? haven't tried it but thought about it.

oh and there are tons of ways that fall under "self injure" -again ppl don't know or can't comprehend.
take care of yourself!!

As said already...if it needs medical attention the get it. Don't worry about what the drs or nurses think, they are there to treat it. (See my thread "make it stop").
(((((jade)))))
for those of us that SI it mostly is about hiding it (not attn seeking); it is our way of feeling emotional pain physically/punishing ourselves/relieving any tension...
I hope you find lots of support, a safe 'anonymous' place to vent, and useful resources here at PC...

Hey Jade, sorry to hear about your troubles.

Im having the same problem at the moment, I have a few new (ish) cuts at the top of my thight which really stand out, and Im due in the hospital for a check up on weds and I know I have to strip off for it!! Ive been dreading it, but thought about it as well and I have decided that if they ask what it is all about Im just simply not going to answer - its a personal issue and none of their business!

I kinda agree on that people self injuring in visible places is a cry for help, but I also think they do it subconsciously. I was the same until a friend pointed it out to me. Now, I do it in more discreet places

I dont blame people for doing it though, I think it comes naturally, we all probably think at some point that 'no one understands' and that we all need help when we are suffering inside - even if you dont realise it

as for the scars - Lots of sun!! I know that means uncovering, but showing them can also help you understand not to be ashamed at times and helps improve confidence. I took a step and did this when I moved abroad last year and the sun helped them heal so much - they became barely visible

Good luck with everything babyg xxx
